Gunsmoke: The Seventh Season, Vol. 2

Great shows- priceless.
Clearly most western series and most movies pale to beat this iconic show. No matter how you buy this show- having it is awesome and i hope to see all the seasons come out on dvd. Thank you CBS/PARAMOUNT!!

understand why after 20yrs run of Gunsmoke that
there are just now 7 seasons released. At this rate
I won't be able to own and watch all of Gunsmoke. I
will be deceased long before they all get released.

Love these DVD's, I give them to my husband. I have been collecting them for him because he is such a fan. I have got all the seasons from 1 to 7 for him. He watches them over and over, I forgot some of the great actors that are on these shows.

Bela Lugosi: Scared to Death Collection (10-pk)

nice collection
I was trying to add a few new Lugosi titles that I didn't have with this 20 movies set. The price was very reasonable at around a dollar each. About half I already had in other sets. It still is worth it. The movie quality and sound is fair, but so are other movies I have got from other collections. They are old movies and it's nice to be able to see them at all. Overall this is worth the money to find all these Lugosi movies together in a nice boxed set.
I like the way the dvd's are stored in each of the two volume boxes (half in each). It's safe and won't scratch. Sturdy and well made Easy to get in and out. Just a cardboard holder to set each disc in individually that opens like a fold out book with each dvd facing you when totally opened. Each dvd has two movies on each. Each dvd has the 2 movie titles and one of the movies pictured on it. The box pictured in the ad is the outside covering that I just put into storage.

It's not a ripoff
Reviewing the 20 Bela Lugosi film set that came out in February 2013 (in case this review gets later mixed with other product listings).

If you're a Bela Lugosi fan like me, you're always looking for a cheap way to pick up some more of his films that you haven't seen. I'll keep this review short -- the listed movies are there, intact, and playable. If you know anything about Bela Lugosi, you know these are his B and C movie roles, but some of them are memorable. The packaging on this is something like I've never seen -- each disk rests in a slab of what seems like super thick fiberboard, almost like masonite or MDF. It wastes a good bit of shelfspace, but it is sturdy and easy to keep organized.

The transfer quality is of the lowest quality, but not so bad as to be a ripoff or something that shouldn't be sold. These movies average about $1 each with the Amazon prices -- you can't ask for much better.

So if you just wanted to get to see some more...

Bela is back in an outstanding collection!
As a long-time Lugosi fan I was very impressed by this collection, especially the packaging. The inside is particularly nice with a great photo of a Primetime Bela and a well-written biography. Looks great on the bookshelf! The condition of the films are a hit-and-miss affair but it was really well put together. Kudos on this collection!

The Coalition [Blu-ray]

Congratulations to Terrell Suggs and the rest of Team Sizzle
Being from Baltimore and an avid Ravens and T Sizzle fan, I had to buy this in support of our beloved, and oh so colorful "Ball So Hard" grad. This movie was filmed in Arizona, where Terrell grew up from 8th grade on, which says a lot about who he is right there. It's a great story, about a lifestyle that most of us are not familiar with, the pleasure side of some professional athletes' lives, the more playboy type athlete, and the women they have scorned. Needless to say, it is interesting to see how the women join forces, the coalition, for their revenge. It is an entertaining movie, and was such a pleasure too see another side of Terrell Sugg's passion of film making. We all know what he can do on a football field, it was great to share his other love. Working on a low budget, the actors were not A list, but did a great job, especially for those who had never performed before. It was not a great movie, but a great first movie for all involved making it. Congratulations...

What is the Meaning of Life ... or Death?
Quite a few Asian films - Korean, Japanese, Chinese - explore the meaning of old age and specifically the cycle of life. This is one of the great themes of this film. The essential fact of this movie is that, through custom (and religion), the parents who reach age 70 are to leave the society and meet their end on the top of the Mountain Narayama. In a sense, it is both frightening and sacred. The cycle of life continues with the younger generation.

Everyone who sees this provocative movie will talk about its striking visual beauty. But more importantly, it strikes a nerve - how should society allocate its scarce resources. Ironically, the fact that the old are left to die by exposure is not necessarily a statement that the elders are not valued by the society. The old are valued...but they need to recognize their function in letting the young take their place. The act of death, therefore, becomes a sacred rite. This is very vividly presented in the last frames...

A Brutal and Beautiful Tale of Old Age
This is the more beautiful of two adaptations of the same story. Director Keisuke Kinoshita used traditional Japanese Kabuki theater as visual inspiration for a stunning story of generational tension in a small village (the other adaptation of this story is the far more realistic and brutal The Ballad of Narayama ).

The plot involves three generations of a household: the aged Orin who is the matriarch of the household, her son Tatsuhei, and his son--a completely self-absorbed teenager--Kesakichi. The village tradition dictates that elderly parents are carried into the mountains and left there to die, so that the younger generations have a better chance to survive.

However this family problematizes tradition because Orin is in great health, as evidenced by her full set of teeth. Orin is eager to carry out the tradition, counting down the days until her trip to Narayama. But her son, Tatsuhei,...

(4.5 stars) "The Ballad of Narayama" is a beautiful, well-acted and also a heartbreaking film from filmmaker Keisuke Kinoshita
A long time ago in Japan, there was a custom practiced in poor and mountainous regions during a time of drought or famine. That practice is known as "Ubasute", in which a relative carries an elderly family member to the mountain or a remote, desolate area to be left there to die.

Because of the tough times and families were struggling to feed everyone, it was a custom that was mandated by feudal officials.

And the custom has been featured in Japanese folklore passed down from generation after generation. Songs about a relative carrying an elderly on their back, while the elderly would snap twigs, so the relative will no how to get back home.

The practice of Ubasute would be explored in the 1958 film "The Ballad of Narayama" (Narayama bushiko), written and directed by Keisuke Kinoshita ("Twenty-Four Eyes", "Morning for the Osone Family", "The River Fuefuki", to name a few).

A Matter Of Wife And Death

Good Drama
I have followed Rod Taylor since I was 16 - 50 years ago. I like his presentation on the screen and enjoyed this DVD. This production was part of an era that produced lots of action movies - good guy against bad guy and this has a very good script. It is not his best nor are most of his roles. He does best in romantic comedies. Still, I will enjoy this DVD and will for many years to come. Thanks to all who made it available to me.

GREAT MOVIE!!!
This is another Rod Taylor movie that I have a feeling very few people have seen. It was made a a TV show pilot but sadly didn't make it on the air. I seriously don't know why it didn't. It's fun to watch & ladies there are lots of scenes with Rod changing his shirt!!! :o) If you get the chance to buy this, do!!! You will not regret it. As for the seller: wonderful service.

Ambush At Tomahawk Gap

Ambush At Tomahawk Gap tells the story of four outlaws-McCord John Hodiak, Egan David Bryan, Doc Ray Teal & Kid John Derek who after being released from a five year sentence for robbery at Yuma Territorial Prison, implode from within as they yearn to find the hidden loot from their ill gotten gains. Not only that but they are in the middle of Indian territory and Apache attacks are frequent and savage in their execution.

Bloody & brutal Western programmer out of Columbia Pictures that's produced by Wallace MacDonald and directed by Fred Sears. Written by David Lang, the principal location shoot is at Corriganville, Simi Valley, California. With Technicolor enhanced cinematography coming from Henry Freulich. Tho featuring a pretty weak, and at times nutty, story, the film has a high watch-ability factor on account of its adherence to Western action staples, it helps, too, that Sears directs with an absolutely no-nonsense approach. Tough Little Gem
This film has developed something of a reputation as a strong low budget western, and I just wanted to say that Ambush at Tomahawk Gap deserves its rep.
This is a short, fast, and surprisingly hardboiled, little movie. Almost every character is hard, greedy and desperate, and the story puts them into a tight spot that just gets worse, building to a violent climax that seems likely to have influenced more than one spaghetti western of fifteen years later.
I like westerns, but prefer the leaner, meaner style, which is actually pretty uncommon. This film delivers the goods, and if you like `em tough and don't turn your nose up at films clearly made on a less than blockbuster budget, it'll probably work for you too.

In Our Nature

A Weekend Of Conversation And Catharsis: Four Likable Actors Shine In This Quiet Character Piece
If you watch indie films with any frequency, there really isn't much that is revelatory about the set-up of "In Our Nature." This is one of those small films that sets a handful of characters down in an isolated setting so that they may discuss relationships and mend perceived injustices. The central pair in writer/director Brian Savelson's piece are an alienated father and son. Each is accompanied by a significant other, and the quartet meet accidentally at the family's lakeside cabin. These intimate films can sometimes feel like a staged play, as is the case here, and may not be for every taste. But I found "In Our Nature" quite charming and surprisingly restrained. In the hands of a capable and likable cast, small verbal exchanges can highlight a lifetime of dysfunction and misunderstanding. Not all is doom and gloom, though, as much humor is peppered throughout. Not much happens from an actual plotting standpoint, but the characters make strides (both big and little) to...

Destined to become a cult classic
This is just a fantastic movie. It's intelligent, thoughtful, well-written, and beautifully filmed. John Slattery, Gabrielle Union, and Jenna Malone all give exceptional performances. If you're looking for a movie full of violence and car chases, this isn't for you - but if you're looking for an insightful meditation on family, home, and growing up, you can't do better than In Our Nature. It's destined to become a cult classic, I'm sure of it.
